Germany’s videogame ratings board, the USK, has outed some sweet TurboGrafx-16 titles, which according to the listing, are heading to Europe for PSN.Here’s what you can eventually expect, as there’s no date at this point, obviously: Bonk’s Adventure New Adventure Island World Sports Competition Victory Run Soldier Blade Dungeon Explorer Super Star Soldier Alien Crush Neutopia Bomberman ’94
This will be awesome for PSP owners who love some classic 2D shooter action. Hopefully they will price these at around £3 or so.
Originally released in 1997 on SEGA Saturn and in 1999 on PlayStation, today is released on PSN for the small price of £6.29.
A classic JRPG from Game Arts(who recently released Lunar Silvarstar Harmony on PSP). The game centres around protagonist Justin who gets caught up in an adventure against General Baal.
It’s a classic adventure with a great battle system. For £6.29 you’ll be hard pushed to find a better JRPG.
You wait 16 years for a decent Sonic game to come along and then two turn up at once. Sadly Sonic 4 is not one of them.
Having played Sonic Colours recently I found that game to a lot of fun, feeling like a 2D Sonic in a 3D world. Hopefully the full game will be this good the whole way through.
The video above shows just how gorgeous it is. It looks so much better than SEGA’s own Sonic 4. The real test of course is playing the game. This game, judging from the demo nails it. Everything feels right. Have a go for yourself by downloading the demo here: http://www.thespriterszone.com/SFRdemo.rar
SEGA should hire these guys for the rest of the Sonic 4 episodes.
Some of my favourites were Episodes 31(the Mario episode), 35(Saturn), 36(Phantasy Star), 38(Final Fantasy VII), 43(Metal Gear), 48(Famicom).
Thanks for the memories Jeremy Parish, Chris Kohler, Ray Barnholt, Shane Bettenhausen, Scott Sharkey and the many others who contributed over the years.
Welcome back Sonic, but I believe you forgot something
So Sonic 4 launched today on PSN and XBLA. I downloaded it eagerly to see the return of the 2D Sonic of old and it all seems to be there, gorgeous to look at, runs super smooth and some classic music/sound effects. But something is missing. The game just doesn’t feel right to play.
Before playing Sonic 4, I turned on Sonic 1 on XBLA and had a quick blast, everything flows and feels great. Yet once I started Sonic 4 it quickly becomes apparent that even though the game is fun, it just isn’t right. The missing ingredient in this gaming pie is…….physics. Sonic in Sonic 4 is not the Sonic from the previous 2D home console Sonic games, his moves are sluggish, he takes longer to shift into gear and stops dead when you let go of the d-pad. It feels so wrong and unnatural.
I’m not saying this is a bad game by any stretch but you can really feel how big of a part the physics of Sonic the Hedgehog played in making the original games so special.
Okay, so I like the Castlevania series a bit too much, but Gametrailers have done a cool retrospective of the Castlevania series. Check out parts 1 above, part 2 to follow shortly.
